Deerholme Covid Plan

COVID-19 Safety Plan: Deerholme Farm

We have modified our operating protocols in accordance with current Public Health Orders and WorkSafe BC recommendations to reduce the risk of transmission for our guests and our staff. As of September 13, 2021, all guests are required to be vaccinated and carry documentation to insure they have at least 1 dose by September 13 and 2 doses by October 24th.

We strive to maintain our commitment to providing you with great hospitality and a memorable dining experience.

Below is an overview of the key areas the BC Ministry of Health has identified as having the most beneficial impact on reducing the spread of COVID-19. Many of the best practices recommended already make up our day-to-day operations as part of the privilege of holding a license to serve food to the public.

Our approach to the Safety Plan is to increase the frequency of the protocols we already routinely do in conjunction with making changes to our physical space. This list is not exhaustive; please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns that are not addressed below.

REDUCING THE NUMBER, DURATION AND PROXIMITY OF CONTACTS

  • We are only open by appointment only and typically hold 1-2 public events per month. We seat people together who are in the same social circle with a limit of 10 people per table. People outside the same social circle will not be seated at the same table. We will maintain a distance of 6 feet between you and the next nearest table of guests.
  • Maximum occupancy has been reduced by social distancing.
  • Party size is limited to groups of 10 (or less) guests per table.
  • Please respect physical distance from your fellow dinners as you enter and exit the restaurant.
  • Our staff is small (often just myself but occasionally with a helper for larger groups).
  • Each person in the kitchen has a separate prep area and work area.
  • We will be reducing both the duration of table side visits (while still making sure you have everything you need!).
  • We won’t be shaking hands or hugging.
  • If possible we will have doors open for increased circulation of air.
  • If possible we will seat people outside (weather permitting)

FREQUENT SANITIZATION OF COMMUNAL AREAS

  • Communal, high-touch surfaces throughout the restaurant will be thoroughly sanitized at the beginning and end of each event and maintained throughout the event.
  • In addition to established hygiene protocols, kitchen staff will be washing their hands before and after using shared equipment and wiping down shared tools between uses.
  • We will be washing our hands between every table interaction and before and after delivering food and clearing dishes.
  • Dinner events are from 5 pm to 9 pm.
  • Tables, chairs, menu covers and any table top items will be sanitized between each event.
  • A sanitization station has been set up in the restroom and hand sanitizer is available.

MONITORING FOR POSSIBLE EXPOSURE & SYMPTOMS

  • We will monitor ourselves closely for any changes in our health and we will not open if we develop any flu-like symptoms.
  • Please do not make a reservation if you or any of your dining companions:

1) Are not covid vaccinated with at least 1 dose (2 doses after Oct. 24th 2021)

2) Have any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, new muscle aches or headache, sore throat;

3) Are a close contact of a person who tested positive for COVID-19.

  • We have a reservation-only system that ensures we have contact information for at least one member of each party should we be asked to provide tracking information.

BC Health officials have emphasized that reduced contact, physical distancing and frequent hand washing provide a level of protection for everyone. At this point the wearing of masks is optional.

We will modify our procedures as new protocols are developed and will abide by any new orders as established by the local health authorities.
